Rottweilers are large dogs weighing up to 110 lbs and reaching a height of about 25 inches. They belong to the working dog group, and make excellent guardians and watch dogs. They can also
serve as police dogs and make good companions for the whole family. The Rottweiler has always been a devoted friend to man and served
humans in a variety of activities.
The history of the breed suggests that the Romans used the dogs as herders. They had to drive the cattle that was used as a source of food and also guarded the pulls with munitions. Breeders perfected the dog's qualities continuously, which helped them take a fitting niche among other distinguished breeds. Nowadays, Rottweilers are popular show companions and working dogs. They are common in many countries. However, like with other breeds, it takes time to find a Rottweiler with outstanding physical and temperament characteristics.

These compact dogs with a short coat are solid black with rust-colored markings. The coat is close lying and does not require a lot of grooming. The Rottweiler is very strong and proportionally built. The breed's body structure gives the impression of balance and power.
Males are usually larger than females. These dogs are known to have a lot of energy and need daily walks to keep fit. Generally, the breed is not difficult to care for, as it has low grooming needs and is very intelligent. Future owners are advised to learn more about the breed's personality, as this working breed is definitely not for everyone and needs training from an early age. It is important to make sure Rottweilers are for you prior to buying a puppy.
