What makes Rottweilers so attractive and loved all over the world is their working qualities and great intelligence. Those who are aware of the Rottweiler history are likely to understand from where the brilliant temperament comes. Rottweilers are known to be obedient companions and make good companions for families with children. However, they are also good personal protection dogs and are sure to stand for the owner if there is a need.
How can great affection for the family members and alertness for the intruders exist in one dog breed? The answer is both simple and complex. The point is that breeders tried to improve the dog's qualities for many years and adjusted the dog's temperament and physical characteristics to their needs.
The Rottweiler now is large and impressive, yet amiable and quiet. According to the official breed standard, the Rottweiler should not display excessive aggressiveness. Nonetheless, it is normal for these dogs to be wary of strangers.

Unfortunately, not all dogs that are bred nowadays suit the description presented in the breed standard. Poor
breeding may be due to lack of experience and inability of the breeder to produce high quality dogs. Some kennels, however, never try to do their best and aim at breeding the largest number of puppies. Rottweilers have large litters with 6-10 puppies common. The average litter size is about 8 puppies.
It is important to choose a kennel carefully, as the pet you buy is going to be around you for a long time to come. The expected lifespan for this breed is about 10-12 years. When visiting a kennel, make sure it is not overcrowded and the puppies receive necessary care. Checking pedigrees and health certificates is essential when buying Rottweilers.
